I'm trying to locate any living relatives of US Army Air Force 2nd Lt. Toney W. Gochnauer of Amarillo, Texas. 2nd Lt. Gochnauer served as the co-pilot of the B-24J “Haley’s Comet”, which disappeared on a January 25, 1944 flight from Kunming, Yunnan, China to Chabua, Assam, India. He served in the same unit – 425th Bombardment Squadron, 308th Bombardment Group, 14th Air Force – as my uncle, 1st Lt. Irwin Zaetz of Burlington, Vermont. In fact, my uncle, the navigator of the B-24 "Hot as Hell" was reported missing in action on the same day as 2nd Lt. Gochnauer: they were on sister ships flying in the same group of aircraft on the same route. My interest in 2nd Lt. Gochnauer is purely genealogical and historical, and I have no financial interest in this matter at all. The research I have made so far indicates that Dennis Dean of Mequon may be a nephew of 2nd Lt. Gochnauer. Gary Zaetz 124 Long Shadow Lane Cary, NC 27518 e-mail: garyngina@live.com Leave a comment

Carol and I are very happy to be part of the new joint effort of the MT Historical Society. Very best wishes on making the two communities aware of the marvelous history which we have.

I am proud to be as member of the MT Historical Society. My current reserch topic is the subject of the WW II German POWs who worked with my father at the Herbert A. Nieman Canning Co. Any information would be appreciated.
